Zaun
recently came to the rescue of a tennis facility that was under siege
from mindless acts of vandalism that had rendered the courts unusable.
The courts at West Park in Erewash were developed as part of a £1.7m
refurbishment, which included the renovation of pavilions and the upgrade
of paths and lighting. The facility comprised 4 asphalt courts in a marquee,
complete with lighting to enable them to be played on at any time of year,
day or night. However, it was not long after opening that the courts began
to attract unwanted attention from youths looking for somewhere to party,
homeless persons and even drug users. The exterior of the marquee was
repeatedly cut with Stanley knives in order to gain access, causing £30,000
of damage and rendering the courts unusable.
Roland Harrison, Sports and Health Development Manager, chose Zaun’s
anticlimb Hi-Sec fencing to secure the premises. The 3m high fence uses
an extremely close mesh that offers no hand or foot hold and so is virtually
impossible to climb without using climbing equipment. “The fencing
has put a stop to the abuse of the facility and we are looking forward
to re-opening the site to club members and the public alike. We are extremely
happy with both the product and service received from Zaun” said
Roland. Unlike many other systems the Hi-Sec system uses slotted fixing
holes in order to fix the panels to the posts. This means that the bolts
can always pass through the clamp bar, panel and post without the need
to bend wires.
“The system has been developed to combine maximum security and easy
install at an affordable price” says Technical and Production Director
Alastair Henman. “Our systems offer excellent value for money and
our delivery and customer service is second to none.”
