Zaun Limited Chosen for Perimeter and Play

Zaun Limited were recently chosen to supply the perimeter railings, play area fencing and security fencing for St John the Baptist school in Central London. The railings that surrounded the school previously had been there for decades. Not only were they rusting, but they were getting bent out of shape and beginning to pose a security risk. “The new railings really make the school look smart” says Dan Sullivan of Zaun. “The original railings had been embedded in the curb stone, and we did not want to start core drilling due to the expense for the school and the risk of the old stones cracking. Instead we elected to crank the posts over the curb so the fence line was in the correct place, but we could use traditional post-holes behind the curb edges.

The finials that were used on the system were similar to those that were on the original railings. The fact that we were able to provide a solution that was in keeping with the original styling was an important factor in the selection of our railing system.” Zaun’s Duo 8 was used around the play area so that there is a good deal of through visibility and teachers can easily see what the children are up to. There was a bit of a problem area at the back of the school and Zaun’s Hi-Sec system has been used here to prevent any unwanted intrusion. The play area fencing was coloured to match the schools colours, and was complimented by the teaching staff as adding to the colourful nature of the new play area.
