MultiFence earns patent

MultiFence earns a patent. The Intellectual Property Office has granted Zaun a patent for our MultiFence security fence assembly invention.

The UK Patent No GB2477465 confirms our rights as the inventor of the mobile high-security Hostile Vehicle Mitigation (HVM) fence assembly we created, especially for the London 2012 Olympic Games. Our system is made unique by mounting our PAS 68 enhancement onto our MultiFence system enabling it to resist impact by 7.5-tonne vehicles attacking the fence line at 90 degrees at 40mph.

By mounting the fencing and the vehicle mitigation on Multibloc concrete blocks, a considerable amount of space is saved using separate HVM roadblocks and secondary temporary fencing.

London 2012 organisers wanted to protect temporary Olympic venues as securely as the main Stratford site. Still, they needed the perimeter protection to be removed as soon as the Games were over to minimise disruption to the local community.OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

They wanted to incorporate vehicle and pedestrian access and CCTV and detection systems. They also wanted to tailor protection individually to each location and the security threat and attack potential identified by security advisers.

Our MultiFence assembly is one of the world’s first to achieve PAS 68:2010 V7500(N2) 64/90:5.0/0.0, the latest BSI’s Publicly Available Specifications for vehicle security barriers and the benchmark for HVM. In addition, we manufacture it to comply with the stringent quality standards of BS EN 1317 (vehicle restraint systems), enabling the system to meet approvals for use by the Highways Agency.

It uses anti-climb mesh fencing with posts mounted in concrete blocks using a unique bolting method which allows the panels to follow a curve or go from a flat surface to an incline with ease.

The system is ideal for applications such as utility plants, as no below-ground foundations are required (even when the HVM measures are required), and it can be used on soft and hard standing. In addition, the fencing system can be deployed up to 5m in height. We have also developed above-ground pedestrian and vehicle gates, turnstiles and access portals, some of which meet the same PAS 68 specification.

In addition, we can offer CCTV columns mounted to the system, saving space and costly additional civil works, toppings and PID systems. Thus, the system overall provides a truly robust, temporary or permanent solution.
