Zaun is proud to announce that we have been recognised as a Bostin’ Black Country Business by the Black Country Chamber of Commerce.
For us, this recognition means far more than simply receiving an award or badge. It is recognition of the role manufacturing businesses still play in the Black Country and the importance of protecting the industrial capability that made this region famous around the world.
The Black Country was built on steel, coal, iron and engineering. It helped power the Industrial Revolution and became known globally for making things properly, employing skilled people and exporting British engineering across the world. While much has changed over the decades, businesses like Zaun continue that tradition today.
From our headquarters in the West Midlands, Zaun designs and manufactures perimeter fencing and physical security systems protecting critical national infrastructure, data centres, airports, schools, utilities, sports venues and high security sites across the UK and internationally.
Today, Zaun remains the UK’s only in-house manufacturer of both woven and welded mesh fencing systems. At a time when much of British manufacturing capability has either disappeared overseas or become heavily reliant on imports, we are proud to continue designing, engineering and manufacturing here in the Black Country.
That matters not only for jobs and investment locally, but for skills, resilience, supply chains and the future of British industry itself.
The challenges facing UK manufacturing are significant. Rising energy costs, global market pressures and increasing international competition continue to place pressure on British producers every single day. Yet despite those challenges, Zaun continues to invest in UK manufacturing through innovation, engineering, sustainability and people.
Recent investment includes a 330kW solar array at our manufacturing facility, continued development of high security perimeter systems protecting critical infrastructure, and ongoing support for apprenticeships and engineering skills within the region.
Stewart Plant, Sales and Marketing Director at Zaun, said:
“Being recognised as a Bostin’ Black Country Business is something we are incredibly proud of because it reflects not just what Zaun does today, but where we come from.
The Black Country has always been a place of makers, engineers and manufacturers. There is a direct line between the industrial heritage of this region and the work businesses like Zaun continue to do today.
As the last remaining British manufacturers operating fully in our sector, we understand both the responsibility and the challenge that comes with that. We are proud to continue flying the flag for Black Country and British manufacturing on projects across the UK and around the world.”
Zaun looks forward to supporting the Bostin’ campaign over the coming months and continuing to showcase the strength, innovation and resilience of Black Country industry.
