Security Spike strips from Zaun are typically designed to provide additional security to the top of a single leaf gate, double-leaf gate or sliding gate. Security Spikes may also be installed along the top of the fence line. However, an additional lintel bar is required to support the spikes, from post to post.

Adding a security spike topping to your perimeter will provide an additional deterrent for anyone attempting to scale or climb the fence line. The serrated edges of the strip make it difficult for an assailant to get a decent hand or foothold at the top of the fence, making it difficult to pull themselves up and over the fence line. In addition to a physical deterrent, security spikes provide a psychological deterrent for any potential intruder.

Manufactured with a profile of 33.5mm x 3mm. Supplied either pre-mounted or in lengths of up to 2 metres and typically installed on fences and gates above 2 metres in height to prevent injury to the general public.

Fence Topping Legislation

Warning signs must be installed along the fence line as part of the Occupier’s Liability Act of 1984 and Highways Act 1980, warning the general public of the dangerous razor wire above. These 250mm x 90mm signs can be supplied by Zaun, in addition to the fencing, gates and security strip. These are NOT sold separately.

Finish

All Zaun posts/panels/gates and painted auxiliary components (for example, clamp-bars, slide bolts etc.) benefit from a protective zinc layer and electrostatically applied polyester powder coating to BS1722 p16. Care is taken with pre-treatment to ensure sound adhesion between the zinc and paint layers. In a UK C1 environment, as defined in ISO 12944 p2, this should ensure a useful life expectancy of the fence of at least 15-20 years. Life expectancy in all environments can be extended by maintaining the fencing with regular washing. Useful life will be reduced if the fencing is damaged. Any coating damage should be repaired to reduce the effect on useful life.

Enhanced painting systems such as marine coatings are also available for improved life expectancy in C2-C5M environments. For a full list of standard colours, click here.
