Zaun has been shortlisted in two categories for the Business is Good for the Black Country Awards 2014 – with a TV crew visiting the factory on Thursday to film us in action.

The Black Country Chamber of Commerce published its awards shortlist with Zaun one of three up for the International Trade and Manufacturer of the Year Awards.

Winners will be announced on 20 November at the Awards Dinner sponsored by the University of Wolverhampton at Wolverhampton Racecourse.

Zaun will compete against Cooper Coated Coil Ltd and Dudley College for the International Trade Award, sponsored by Wolverhampton Racecourse.

Claire Barratt, Group Director of Communications, Accord Group, said: “The businesses that are shortlisted are delivering really innovative technologies that are not only creating jobs but wealth and immediate benefits to families living in the Black Country. The West Midlands used to be known as ‘the workshop of the world’, and knowing what I do now, to me, it is still just that.”

For the Manufacturer of the Year Award, Zaun is up against Ultra Furniture Limited and voestalpine Metsec plc.

From sponsor Crowe Clark Whitehill, Johnathan Dudley said: “It was fascinating to view the entries from so many vibrant manufacturers in the region and to visit their factories to see their businesses first hand. The quality of manufacture and dedication of the entrants to provide manufacturing excellence in an environment that generates economic growth and profit, while considering environmental impact, was a common theme.”

Paul Linton, Chair of the Chamber Judging Panel and President of Sandwell, said: “The Chamber Awards Dinner is a perfect opportunity to celebrate and reward excellence in businesses in the Black Country. The judging panel and I were very impressed with the high standard and diversity of award entries this year. We are delighted to reveal that ‘Business is Good for the Black Country’ as shortlisting was a challenging task.”

Ninder Johal, President of Black Country Chamber of Commerce, is hosting the black-tie awards evening, compered by BBC Midlands’ Phil Upton.
