Zaun’s 3m fencing panels cheaper and quicker to install

A delegation from the Olympic Delivery Authority recently visited Zaun Limited to see how the benefits of winning the 2012 Olympic Games had spread to the Midlands and to further promote Olympic opportunities in the area.

The day started with John Armitt chairman of the Olympic Delivery Authority, delivering an upbeat message to nearly 600 delegates from across the West Midlands who attended a special breakfast briefing. The visit to Zaun’s 50,000 sqft site followed, where Mr Armitt and other members of the ODA committee were given a brief presentation regarding Zaun’s progress with the Olympic contract, and the company’s aspirations for the future.

Also in attendance was Jim Johnston, Business Manager of Advantage West Midlands whose role is to promote 2012 opportunities in the region. “Advantage West Midlands has around 300 employees. I am based in the Tourism and Leisure Unit, but I am working on maximising economic benefits for the West Midlands, by encouraging firms to bid for and win tenders from London2012″ said Jim.

Two tier one contractors has issued a joint tender to design, manufacture, supply and install new high security fencing and gates around the 17Km perimeter of the Olympic Park site in Stratford, east London. The fence is 5 metres high with 7 metres lighting columns every 25 metres. Zaun beat off three other short listed companies to win the contract. Having started work on site in January, it is expected that the fence will be fully in place by the end of the year.
