Zaun fence backdrop to Apprentice winners’ Orbit abseil

I had a bit of a Bonfire Night outburst last week when I watched episode five of the latest series of The Apprentice with Alan Sugar and his wannabe business partners.

Summit had just pipped Tenacity in the latest task by premium pricing their coach tour, only for Lord Sugar to pack them off to the Olympic Park to abseil down the ArcelorMittal Orbit as their treat.

Summit PM Daniel boasts that his best business skill is ‘natural sales and negotiation skills coupled with my ability for creative thinking under pressure.

He not only proved to be not up to the sales task nor project management but nor was he up to heading to the summit of the Orbit and abseiling his way down! (watch here)

At least Zaun‘s fencing at the former Olympic site served as a backdrop to Daniel’s return to planet earth, physically if not metaphorically!

Despite his lack of tenacity, it was a brilliant advert for Orbit abseils, which the venue’s organisers had just started last month.

You could even enjoy the unique experience on Saturday, 29 November, as one of 80 fundraisers for the Albert Kennedy Trust, a charity supporting LGBT 16- to 25-year-olds who are made homeless or are living in a hostile environment.

AKT is the first charity allowed to organise a fundraising abseil from the iconic structure in the Olympic Park. Registration for the abseil is £50, with participants asked to raise an additional £150 minimum through sponsorship.

What a great way to raise money for a great cause, get a big adrenaline rush and enjoy amazing views for 20 miles across London from over 100m up atop the tallest sculpture in the country!

And Daniel would rather you than him!
