A springboard for success reception was held in conjunction with UK Trade & Investment to engage with, and celebrate, those companies who have successfully won 2012 contracts and introduce them to global supply opportunities around the Sochi 2014 winter Games, the 2014 Brazilian World Cup and the Rio summer Games in 2016.

The event which was held at St. James’ Palace saw leading business executives from across the country meet in a networking reception to celebrate the success of UK businesses in providing materials to the 2012 games.

Zaun Limited, who has supplied a large volume of perimeter fencing on the Stratford site in London, represented businesses from the West Midlands at the event. Paul Painter, Sales and Finance Director said, “The event represented a super platform to celebrate successes of all businesses involved in the supply of materials to the Games in London. The event, followed on from the launch of two UKTI reports ‘Game On’ and ‘Brazils Moment to Shine’ which highlighted opportunities in Brazil at the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the 2016 Rio Olympics, also offered valuable insight into ways in which businesses, such as Zaun, can achieve export sales”.

Also on hand at the event was Paul Deighton, LOCOG CEO who mingled with attendees to hear their stories at first hand regarding their participation at 2012. The official Olympic Torch also made an appearance at the event.

During 2010/11, Zaun have made significant gains in increasing export sales from its UK operations in the Midlands as well as increasing market share across its regional business in France. Paul continued, “We have worked closely with UK Trade and Investment and Advantage West Midlands, to develop growth in export sales. Some of this increase has come from working closely with available agencies to assist in developing export opportunities for us”

“As a direct result of working on the Stratford site in London, Zaun has seen sales opportunities come from countries who are hosting other high profile sporting events in the future. Zaun represented the Midland region at the prestigious Sport Accord event in London earlier this year. The event helped showcase companies who supply materials linked with sporting applications and that have suitable experience to demonstrate their abilities in the supply of such products. It is hoped that contacts made at this event will provide further opportunities for our company, as we look to continue the good work started from working on the Games”.
